Samsung introduces Galaxy S24 series and ‘Galaxy AI’

Samsung announced its new smartphones Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra in San Jose. The devices are mainly imbued with AI options, although there are also other options that make it an interesting new flagship. The Ultra has a titanium housing, unlike previous Samsung phones.

AI appears to be Samsung’s showpiece. For example, you can have a photo remastered at the touch of a button and you can remove a reflection of a window from a photo. The AI can also ensure that a photo that you rotate to straighten the horizon does not miss anything: the AI sees patterns and can fill in certain corners and holes.

Real-time translations

In terms of cameras, Samsung has opted for options such as optical image stabilization that can now also be used with wide shots, as well as options to zoom at concerts or other dim scenes without losing too much quality. The camera is now equipped with 5x zoom.

In terms of language, Samsung has also shown interesting AI options. Consider being able to translate telephone conversations via live call translation. Here you talk in your own language (or actually initially in English, because Dutch will follow later this year), and you can then talk to a Thai who also speaks his own language. Both also hear their own language, thanks to real-time translation by the AI. You can also have your phone make a transcript during a meeting, so that it knows which speaker is who based on AI, so you can later clearly see who said what.

Galaxy S24 Ultra does not have round corners, but it does have a flat screen, which S23 did not have. This makes it easier to write on the flat screen with the included S Pen, the Samsung stylus. Although there are many similarities, it is good to compare the devices:
