Samsung Galaxy S24: these are the most persistent rumors

Next week on January 17, Samsung will most likely announce the new S24 series. It has been hyping the AI coming to Galaxy for a while now, including with a TV commercial. It makes it very mysterious, but secretly there is already a lot of information about the devices on the street. These are the most persistent rumors about Samsung S24.

S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra

According to rumors (and looking at the history of the brand’s S series), Samsung has three phones ready: S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra. S24 is 6.2 inches and would use the Exynos 2400 chip in Europe. There is 8GB of RAM and a 4000 mAh battery. In terms of cameras, Samsung offers a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. S24 is a bit larger: 6.7 inches, plus a larger 4900 mAh battery. Furthermore, S24+ would be very similar to the S24, except for its size in terms of screen and battery.

As the most premium device, the S24 Ultra is generally also the most interesting. This is often where the most innovation can be found. The S24 is 6.8 inches and has a 2,000 mAh battery. The device has four cameras at the rear: a 200 megapixel main camera, a 50 megapixel periscope camera, a 12 megapixel wide-angle lens and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens for 3 x optical zoom. The chip is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Galaxy AI

The most striking thing about Samsung’s announcements is that the company seems to be investing enormously in AI. That’s not a rumor: that’s what they say themselves. They’re even advertising the announcement as “Galaxy AI.” We don’t yet know exactly what those AI options entail, but there are rumors about AI that can listen in on a meeting and then tell apart who is speaking. But also AI that can immediately translate the conversation when your aunt calls from Thailand. This way you can have a real telephone conversation without having to speak each other’s language.

Another AI feature that Samsung would come up with is the ability to remove objects from videos. It would be like the Magic Eraser from Google Pixel phones, but not on photos, but on videos. That is quite impressive: after all, it means that that object always has to be removed from all those small frames that make up a video. It is of course just a rumor, but this would put Samsung ahead of other phone makers.

Titanium

In addition to AI, there is another striking new feature: titanium as a housing. It seems to only be for the Ultra devices, but comes in several colors. We have not often seen Titanium on Android phones: Apple also introduced it for the first time on the iPhone in 2023. In addition, unlike the S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra would no longer have the rounded edges, but a slightly sleeker, straighter design.

Of course, the above are all rumors. January 17th is the day: then we will know which rumors are true: Samsung will announce its new products that day at 7:00 PM Dutch time.
