Sainz responds to impending departure from Ferrari: ‘I am aware of my worth’

Carlos Sainz is looking forward to his future without Ferrari with peace of mind. The driver of the Italian racing team will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton after the coming season, but that does not cause disappointment for the man from Madrid. Sainz knew that this had been going on for a while and can now calmly look at his own options. Sainz expects to still be in Formula 1 in the future.

Sainz indicated last season that he would like to stay at Ferrari. Contract negotiations were also conducted, but Italian media reported that the talks did not go smoothly. Eventually the monkey came out of the bag and John Elkann, the president of Ferrari, appeared to be working hard in the background to bring in Hamilton. Last week it was made clear that the seven-time world champion will actually move to Maranello in 2025.

This means that Sainz can look for a new challenge. The Spaniard has so far reacted relatively calmly to the fact that he has to leave Ferrari. “No, I am not disappointed,” Sainz is quoted by Marca. ‘Of course I know a lot within the team, so I already knew some things and I prepared myself with the team for the changes for the future. However, I don’t want to think about anything other than doing my best in the season I have left.’

Sainz remains calm

It is still unclear where Sainz will end up after 2024. Audi seems to be the most logical option, given the link between the team and the father of the Madrid. In any case, Sainz is not worried. ‘I have always taken steps forward in my career, every year I have become a little better. That has always been my philosophy. I am aware of my worth as a driver and for that reason I am very calm when I look to the future. No doubt good things will come,” he said.
