Police in Belgium arrested a 26-year-old Rotterdam resident on Thursday on suspicion of involvement in the liquidation of Jenik Brito (27) on New Year’s Day 2024 in Capelle aan den IJssel.
Private party
After visiting a private party at the Rietbaan, Brito was shot at in his car. His car came to a stop dozens of meters away. Bystanders and officers who arrived on the scene tried to resuscitate the victim, but this was in vain.
Belgium
Because there were indications that the 26-year-old suspect may be staying in Belgium, the Dutch police worked closely with the Belgian authorities. The Dutch authorities have now requested the extradition of the 26-year-old Rotterdam resident. His role in Brito’s death is under further investigation. It is not clear whether this is the possible shooter.
The victim himself previously came into the attention of the police and the judiciary as a drug extractor in the port of Rotterdam.
