‘PSV gets competitor in battle for Spierings: Ajax also interested’

Ajax is keeping an eye on Stijn Spierings, according to De Telegraaf. It was previously announced that the Toulouse midfielder enjoys interest from PSV, but according to the morning newspaper, the team from Amsterdam are also charmed by the 27-year-old game distributor.

On Thursday evening, Voetbal International already announced that Spierings is in the interest of PSV. ‘Besides PSV, Ajax is also targeting him’, De Telegraaf adds a day later. Ali Dursun, Spierings’ agent, neither confirms nor denies the interest of the Dutch top clubs towards the newspaper.

Spierings played in the Netherlands in the past for AZ, Sparta and RKC Waalwijk respectively, before making the switch to France via Levski Sofia. If Ajax actually makes concrete progress on his arrival, he could just follow in the footsteps of Edson Álvarez, whose departure from Ajax next summer seems plausible.

Spierings is one of the stars this season at the Dutch tinted Toulouse, which won the French cup last week thanks to two goals from striker Thijs Dallinga. Spierings has already played 32 league matches in Ligue 1 this season, scoring two goals and one assist.
