Ajax and PSV will continue their European campaigns in the intermediate round of the Europa League on Thursday evening. The team from Amsterdam will meet Union Berlin in-house, while the people from Eindhoven will visit Seville. These are the suspected setups.
Ajax finished third in the Champions League group stage and must force a place in the eighth finals via the intermediate round of the Europa League. Trainer John Heitinga changes his line-up against Union in two positions, compared to last weekend’s match against RKC Waalwijk (3-1). According to Algemeen Dagblad, Calvin Bassey forms the heart of the defense with Jurriën Timber.
Edson Álvarez moves to midfield, where Heitinga also posts Steven Berghuis and Davy Klaassen. This is at the expense of Kenneth Taylor, who starts on the bench. Steven Bergwijn returns in the front. He takes the place of Francisco Conceição.
Probable Ajax line-up: Rulli; Rensch, Timber, Bassey, Wijndal; Álvarez, Berghuis; Kudus, Klaassen, Bergwijn; Tadic
PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooij sees no reason to adjust his line-up after the resounding 6-0 victory over FC Groningen. Acquisitions Patrick van Aanholt and Thorgan Hazard are again in the starting line-up, while Luuk de Jong is preferred to Fábio Silva. Xavi Simons is in his favorite position behind the striker, which means that Johan Bakayoko will keep his starting place, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Probable line-up PSV: Benitez; Teze, Ramalho, Branthwaite, Van Aanholt; Sangaré, Simons, Veerman; Bakayoko, De Jong, Hazard
