Rotterdam – On the Crooswijkseweg, a fire or explosion may have been prevented on Saturday morning by an alert detector. After the report, a bottle with a liquid was found. An explosive went off on Strevelsweg an hour later. A brief fire followed. The police are investigating.
Crooswijkseweg
In the night of Friday 28 to Saturday 29 April, an alert witness reported a suspicious situation to the emergency number. Around 3 a.m., the reporter saw two men who were suspiciously loitering at a shop. The detector also smelled a strange smell. The detector may have managed to prevent a fire or explosion, because officers who rushed to the store found a bottle with a liquid at the shop. The bottle has been secured for examination by the Forensic Investigation. In addition to investigating traces, the police are conducting a neighborhood investigation and available camera images will be viewed.
Strevelsweg
Around 4:00 am this morning, local residents of Strevelsweg were shocked by loud bangs. It turned out that an explosive went off at a shop. A brief fire ensued. Fortunately no one was injured. After the explosion, two men on a scooter took off. The driver was wearing gray shoes and dark clothing. The man on the back of the scooter had a slight build, was dressed in black and wore a white undershirt. Both wore white helmets. The police investigated on the spot. Explosives scouts (TEV) and the Forensic Investigation were deployed for this.
