The winter break is still in full swing, but things are already looking ahead to the 2024 Formula 1 season. The teams are slowly making it clear when they will present their new cars. In the overview below, F1Maximaal keeps track of all presentation dates for you as they are released.
The season will be kicked off for the time being by both Williams and the renewed Sauber team. The racing team that was known as Alfa Romeo last year will be called Stake F1 Team from 2024 and will unveil the car on February 5. The question is whether the team will also change the color scheme in addition to the name. Williams will therefore also take the curtain off the new car on February 5. James Vowles has indicated that there is still a lot of potential in the concept of the car, which will give Williams fans a lot of hope.
Two days later it is the turn of the Alpine team. The French racing team has few changes for the start of the new season, after some changes were made last year. Alpine continues to work hard towards the goal of structurally competing for podium spots within a hundred races. Last year, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly both finished third once, namely in Monaco and the Netherlands.
Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes follow each other in rapid succession
After just under a week’s break after the presentation of the new Alpine car, it is Aston Martin’s turn to perform the new car. Expectations were not that high last season, despite Fernando Alonso coming to Silverstone. Nevertheless, Aston Martin proved the opposite. The team that finished in seventh place in the championship in 2022 suddenly managed to compete for the podium places. Aston Martin hopes to take such a step again before 2024, especially after performance slumped during the 2023 season.
A day later it is Ferrari’s turn, whose concept is increasingly resembling the Red Bull Racing car. With this, the Italian hopes that he can once again bring the world title to Maranello. Last year the Scuderia finished third in the constructors’ championship after finishing second the year before. At the end of the season there was a fierce battle with Mercedes for second place, but the team that presented the car on Valentine’s Day managed to win that battle.
Mercedes will present the car on February 14. A major concept change is planned for the German racing team. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have often spoken negatively about the car over the past two seasons. Under the leadership of technical director James Allison, Mercedes will take a different path. The team hopes, just like Ferrari, that it can challenge Red Bull in the battle for the title.
Red Bull has been a long time coming
Red Bull’s turn is one day after Mercedes. On February 15, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez will take the curtain off the RB20. For both drivers, it is hoped that the 2024 car will be a worthy successor to the RB19, which won in no fewer than 21 of the 22 Grands Prix, mainly thanks to world champion Verstappen. The eyes of the competitors will be focused on Red Bull’s new car, but the question is how many details the champion will reveal.
