Large parts of Alphen aan den Rijn, Waddinxveen and Zevenhuizen were without power for some time this afternoon. By the end of the afternoon, the fault had been resolved everywhere, network operators Liander and Stedin report.
The outage started around 2 p.m. Tens of thousands of customers were then without power for a few hours. Liander, which is responsible for the power in the Alphen, Nieuwveen and Woubrugge region, reports that fewer than 40,000 customers were without power. For them, the outage was over around 4 p.m.
According to Stedin, about 15,000 customers were still without power in Waddinxveen and Zevenhuizen. The outage was resolved around 5:30 p.m. The cause of the malfunction is unknown.
Omroep West writes that the emergency services receive several reports of people stuck in elevators. For example, the fire brigade had to take action for lift lock-ups in Alphen, Waddinxveen and Moerkapelle.
