Postal packages intercepted containing narcotics

The Hague – Recently, several postal packages containing narcotics were intercepted during a postal check by the Hit-And-Run-Cargo (HARC) at Schiphol. Following these interceptions, the Postal Intervention Team of the National Unit, led by the National Public Prosecution Service, started a criminal investigation into the sender(s) of these postal packages. Four suspects were arrested and drugs and money were found.

Last week, through good cooperation with the Flexible Intervention Team, this investigation led to the arrests of four suspects in the act and several searches in homes in South Holland on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. This included the discovery of large sums of money, namely in one house approximately €26,000 in cash, in one vehicle €10,000 in cash and some smaller amounts of money, resulting in a total amount of 39,000 euros being seized. In addition to the amounts of money, narcotics and a firearm were also found and seized.

Not anonymous

As a customer/purchaser of narcotics you are not anonymous. Buying the narcotics can be done remotely via the computer, but sending the narcotics is done via the physical world. Buying narcotics therefore always leaves physical and digital traces. Suspects often feel safe, but through data-driven investigation and cooperation between our investigative services, these suspects were tracked down and arrested last Wednesday.

The four suspects are currently in custody and all suspects were granted custody for a period of 14 days by the examining magistrate at the Overijssel District Court on November 10, 2023.
