Bergen op Zoom – On Thursday evening, a police officer was punched in the face by a 27-year-old man from Bergen op Zoom. The suspect was arrested and taken to a police cell complex. He is still in custody for questioning.

The cause of this incident was a collision that happened on Thursday, March 16, around 10:30 p.m., at the Markiezaatsweg/Van Konijnenburgweg intersection in Bergen op Zoom. According to a witness, the person who caused the collision drove on, while the three occupants of the hit car were left with unknown injuries at the intersection. On the instructions of other witnesses, and a license plate that was left behind at the scene of the collision, officers found the car of the suspected cause of the collision on Van Wamelweg a little later. The suspected driver of the car was also found there. He was arrested and transferred to a police cell. The 22-year-old man from Bergen op Zoom will be questioned. His car has been impounded for investigation. The hit car was towed away by a tow company.
