In the investigation into a series of explosions in Alkmaar at the beginning of this month, the police arrested an 18-year-old man from Utrecht last Monday. The police take into account that he acted as an intermediary. This weekend, five Amsterdam residents were already arrested in the investigation.
The police believe that the 18-year-old, on behalf of an unknown person, organized materials and transport for the people who actually placed and detonated the explosives.
A Large-Scale Investigation Team was recently started to investigate the series of explosions, including in the Alkmaarse Lekstraat.
Police teams from Utrecht and North Holland worked together in the investigation.
The 18-year-old may also have been involved in explosions in Utrecht.
The research team is continuing the investigation into the explosions in Alkmaar.
The mayor of Alkmaar recently designated four different areas as safety risk areas with (extra) camera surveillance. The police are now allowed to conduct preventive searches there.
