Utrecht – Officers arrested two Utrecht residents in the early morning of Tuesday, November 14, after a short chase. Not long before, a store on the Parijsboulevard was the target of an attempted store burglary. The arrested suspects were probably involved in this attempted burglary.
Around 3:30 am a report comes in about a big bang in Leidsche Rijn. At the same time, in the same area in front of a shop on the Parijsboulevard, two people are seen suddenly taking off on a scooter. Using the description given, police officers in surveillance quickly come into view of the scooter. After a short chase of the scooter, both suspects run off on foot on Koninging Wilhelminalaan, but officers manage to track them down 100 meters further and arrest them. Both suspects, two 19-year-old Utrecht residents, are currently in custody for further questioning.

The police immediately started an investigation to gain more clarity about the background of this attempted burglary. Trace investigations were carried out at the store and at the location of the arrest and possible witnesses were spoken to in the area. Because there would have been a bang, the expertise of the EOD was also called in.
