Police officer fired for gross dereliction of duty

A police officer in the Eindhoven district has been fired for ‘serious dereliction of duty’. The man is said to have been guilty of, among other things, inappropriate behavior outside working hours and frequent consultation of police systems. The police reported this on Monday.

A disciplinary investigation by the Safety, Integrity and Complaints team (VIK) into the employee last year showed that the nature and seriousness of his behavior was such that the man was fired.

‘Anyone who works for the police has an exemplary function. Police officers are also expected to behave in a socially responsible and morally irreproachable manner in their private time,’ the police said.
