Haarlem – On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the police made two arrests in response to a violent incident in Haarlem on Thursday, August 25, 2022. It concerns a 36-year-old man without a fixed place of residence or abode and a 34-year-old man from the municipality of Hillegom.
Last August, a serious violent incident on Robert Peereboomweg injured a 35-year-old man at the time and a 38-year-old man at the time. A 21-year-old woman of no fixed abode was injured when she fell down the flight of stairs after pepper spray was used. The victims were then taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of their injuries.
The criminal investigation department has conducted an intensive investigation, resulting in the two arrests made last Tuesday. The two suspects were brought before the examining magistrate on May 19, who decided to extend the pre-trial detention of both men by two weeks. The suspects are therefore still in custody and their role in the violent incident is being further investigated.
