Zaandam – The police made four arrests on Thursday, March 16 after an assault on Nieuwendamstraat in Zaandam. This assault allegedly involved the threat of a firearm-like object. After a search, it was found in the bushes. Shortly afterwards, the police arrested four underage boys. Their role in the incident is under investigation.
Around 2:05 p.m., the police received a report of a fight in which a firearm-like object was allegedly seen. In the incident, a 16-year-old boy from Zaandam was assaulted by four boys after an altercation. The victim was not injured in the assault.
After the assault, the suspects walked towards Volendamstraat. The victim went after the boys with two friends. At that moment, one of the suspects threatened the victim and his two friends with a firearm-like object. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction.
The police immediately carried out a search after the report and found an alarm pistol in the bushes on Hensbroekstraat, which may have been threatened with before. A little later, around 3 p.m., the police arrested four underage boys on the train to Amsterdam. The suspects are still in custody and their role in the incident is being investigated.
