Police intervene in firearms deal at sports club


The police arrested two men red-handed in Twente on Friday evening who were involved in a firearms deal. 15 firearms were seized. The national public prosecutor’s office released this on Tuesday afternoon.

Parking spot

The police intervened on Friday evening in a parking lot at a sports club in the municipality of Raalte. Two men were involved in the transfer of three small arms with ammunition.

The two suspects are a 44-year-old man from Deventer and a 25-year-old man from Olst-Wijhe. In the house of the Deventer resident, to whom the weapons were delivered, the police found another five handguns at home.

Six firearms with ammunition were found during the search of the suspect’s home in Olst-Wijhe. In addition, hard drugs were found in his home, but the national public prosecutor’s office does not say what kind of drugs and how much. The man’s car also contained a 9mm firearm.

Rotterdam

The investigation in which the arrests were made by the National Investigation and Interventions unit. The suspects were brought before the examining magistrate at the court in Rotterdam on Tuesday. This placed them in custody for two weeks.
