A police inspector was arrested in Amsterdam on Tuesday on suspicion of passing on confidential information to third parties. The suspect is a man who works at the Amsterdam unit.
Limits
Two co-suspects were arrested in the investigation: a 36-year-old man from Naarden and a 35-year-old man from Soest. This has been announced by the Public Prosecution Service.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the three suspects are detained in all restrictions and are only allowed to have contact with their lawyer.
It is rare that police officers in higher ranks are suspected of corruption.
Workplace
The investigation is being carried out by the National Investigation Department under the direction of the national public prosecutor’s office. A search was carried out at the employee’s workplace in Amsterdam. Locations in Almere and Hilversum were also searched.
The investigation is still in progress. The National Criminal Investigation Department has other suspects in mind, further arrests are not excluded by the Public Prosecution Service.
