Police find firearms in car after crash into house


Sprundel – Police officers chased a stolen car during the night of Monday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 12. The stolen vehicle eventually crashed into a house on Sint Janstraat in Sprundel. Police found several firearms and ammunition in the car. The driver, whose identity is still unknown, has been arrested and is being held for further investigation.

Around midnight, officers drove on the A27 highway in the direction of Breda. The license plate of a car driving there was checked here. This investigation showed that the plates did not belong to this car. The police then turned on the ‘follow sign’. It seemed for a moment that the driver was going to follow the officers, but he still took off. At speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour he drove on the A58 in the direction of the Galder junction. The officers managed to keep the car in sight. Ultimately, the motorist in Sprundel lost control of the wheel and drove into the facade of a house on Sint Janstraat. The driver was immediately arrested after the crash. He was checked at the hospital for any injuries, but it turned out that he had no injuries.

Firearms

Officers found several firearms and ammunition in the car. The items have been seized for further investigation. The car turned out to have been stolen in France, the license plates in Germany. The crash caused the home to be seriously damaged and is therefore temporarily uninhabitable.
