Police discover cannabis farm in Obdam

Obdam – The police discovered a hemp nursery in a house in Obdam on Thursday, March 16 around 09:00. More than 450 hemp plants were spread over three rooms. A 44-year-old man from the municipality of Koggenland is regarded as a suspect and his involvement is being investigated.

The police had tracked down the cannabis farm after a tip. In addition to the cannabis plants, the police also found equipment in the house. Both the hemp plants and equipment have been seized and will be destroyed.

The suspect has been arrested and has since been released. He may answer at a later time.

Risks

Electricity was illegally tapped in the house. The power company has removed the meter and shut off the power. Illegal power tapping is often the case at hemp farms and this entails the necessary risks for local residents. For example, a short circuit or overheating can cause a fire. It is therefore important that you report suspicions of a cannabis farm. Do you smell a strong hemp smell in your area? Are you experiencing a constant humming or whirring sound from an air extractor? Then you may well have to deal with a cannabis farm.
