Police arrest suspect (31) for shooting incident

Nuenen – One suspect has been arrested in the investigation into the shooting incident on Wednesday afternoon, April 26 at the Schepen Maaslaan. We take into account that the cause of the shooting incident lies in the family atmosphere. Our detectives would like to get in touch with witnesses who can tell more about the incident.

Notification
Around 1 p.m., the police received a report that a car near the Schepen Maaslaan had been shot at. Fortunately, the reporter, who was in the car, was not injured, but this could have turned out very differently. The rear window of her car was damaged.

Research
The police pulled out with several units in view of the report. During the investigation, a 31-year-old man from Nuenen quickly came into the picture as a suspect for the shooting incident.

Arrest
The investigation resulted in the arrest of the suspect shortly afterwards. He was arrested near his home on the Schepen Maaslaan. An object resembling a firearm was found in his possession. He has been transferred to a police station and is being questioned on this matter.

Follow-up research
Immediately after the incident, our detectives started an investigation and spoke to various witnesses, among others. The criminal investigation department is conducting further investigations to clarify what happened, whether, for example, targeted shots were fired. It seems that the cause of the shooting incident lies in the family atmosphere. Due to the privacy of all involved and the importance of the investigation, we are not making any further announcements at this time.

The firearm-like object has been seized and is being investigated. This weapon is indistinguishable from the real thing. The weapon will be destroyed after the investigation.
