Winschoten – A young suspect threatens a cashier of a supermarket on the Amstelstraat in Winschoten on Thursday, May 11 with a knife. Bystanders still run after the young man, but he manages to escape.
The suspect walks into the supermarket at around 7:30 PM on Thursday evening, May 11, and heads for the checkout to pay for goods. When an employee wants to help him, he threatens her with a knife. He tells her to open the cash drawer. Fortunately, the employee was not injured.
Escape route and investigation
After the threat, the suspect runs out of the store towards Vondellaan and the nearby park. Bystanders run after him, but the suspect manages to escape. He was last seen at the tunnel at Winschoten station.
The police started an investigation. Last night an investigation was conducted in the supermarket and witnesses were spoken to. Camera images are also viewed.
Report suspect
The suspect is a dark-skinned boy with a short build. He was wearing sunglasses and a helmet cap. Underneath he wore a blue or black track jacket with striking orange accents. Furthermore, blue training pants with white piping and blue-black sports shoes and orange / red socks.
