PEC Zwolle has announced in a statement that the duel with FC Dordrecht was stopped due to an action by an eight-year-old child. The boy threw a cup on the field in the opening phase of the match, so that referee Martin Pérez decided to abandon the pot.
“In the first half, the game was stopped for a short time because an 8-year-old child threw a cup on the field,” PEC begins in the statement about the cancellation of the match against FC Dordrecht. ‘Immediately afterwards the child was escorted out of the stadium with his father and a conversation took place. Next week there will be another meeting with them at the club.’ The game was not definitively stopped, so the teams are now playing football again.
The incident happened near FC Dordrecht midfielder Jari Schuurman. PEC Zwolle is now leading 4-0 in the game against the club from Dordrecht. The blue fingers have already been promoted and will therefore play in the Eredivisie again next season.
