A suspicious package was found on a balcony of a house on Vijfheerenlanden in Vianen on Sunday afternoon. Research by the Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) shows that the package contains explosives. Some surrounding homes were evacuated.
At around 3 p.m., the Utrecht police reported that a suspicious package had been found on the balcony of a house on Vijfheerenlanden. The EOD arrived on site to investigate. Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Dismantled
Around 4:30 PM, the police reported that investigation by the EOD showed that the suspicious package indeed contained explosives. The package has been dismantled by the EOD and secured for further investigation. Local residents are now allowed to return home.
