Officers report attempted manslaughter after driving into police

Agents of the National Unit and Unit The Hague have reported attempted manslaughter against a 26-year-old man from Barendrecht because he drove into them during a chase. The chase ensued after the man ignored a police stop sign.

Hit

On the Ring Rotterdam (A20), the officers of the Infrastructure Department saw a car driving, the license plate of which had hit the ANPR cameras just before. That alert was related to a possible measure issued to the driver of the vehicle. His driver’s license was revoked.

The officers decided to give the car a stop sign to carry out a check, but the driver ignored the follow sign and took off.

Reeuwijk

According to the police, he then drove into a police vehicle several times during the chase. He would also have run into a walking officer who had to jump away to avoid a collision. This officer suffered minor injuries in the incident.

After a further chase, in which police cars from the Unit The Hague and the police helicopter also joined, the man was arrested in Reeuwijk and his car was seized. He is suspected of, among other things, attempted manslaughter, driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence of drugs.
