Almelo – A 30-year-old man assaulted a police officer in Almelo to such an extent that he damaged several teeth. The assault took place in the center of Almelo.
On the night from Friday to Saturday, officers were present in the city center for a catering service. At one of the cafes there was a man who had already been refused entry to several bars. A security guard motioned for officers to intervene. The suspect appeared very drunk and refused any cooperation.
When the suspect wanted to walk away, the officer involved asked the man to remain standing and grabbed the man. Unexpectedly and out of nowhere, the man lashed out and hit the officer squarely in the face. A doctor had to restore some teeth that had broken off. The suspect has been arrested. He was also injured by the force of the blow, and the injuries were treated in hospital.
Violence against officers
