Not team members, but Leclerc and Sainz are the problem:

Not the team members, but the drivers themselves are Ferrari’s biggest problem at the moment. That is what Ralf Schumacher says in his column for Sky Sport Deutschland. The former Formula 1 driver is not pleased with the lack of consistency that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have shown this season.

Schumacher sees the Scuderia fall short again this year and fall short of expectations. ‘I have had a good first impression since Frédéric Vasseur took up his role, obviously a lot has happened there. I see the biggest problem with the drivers,” says the German and explains why he thinks that. “I feel that Leclerc and Sainz are not consistent enough.”

Shortcomings of Leclerc and Sainz under scrutiny

According to the former driver of Williams and Toyota, among others, Leclerc is not yet ready to become world champion. Leclerc himself said that, against the advice of his engineers, he set the car wrong. With his mistakes he shows that either he has not yet reached maturity or that in the end he may not be consistent enough to win a world championship for Ferrari.”

Sainz cannot escape criticism from Schumacher either. “Sainz was eight tenths away from Leclerc in a weekend,” he points to the weekend in Azerbaijan. “In Miami he was at his level, but he doesn’t slow down fast enough and enters the pit lane too fast. Frankly, the Ferrari team is currently doing better than both drivers,” the analyst said.
