Norris sees an important asset in Red Bull leader: 'Brings knowledge and expertise'

Lando Norris is pleased with the arrival of Rob Marshall, Red Bull Racing’s Chief Engineering Officer. Earlier this week it was announced that the Red Bull man will leave his current team immediately and will start working at McLaren on January 1. Norris is convinced that McLaren is on the right track with the signing of Marshall.

According to Norris, the arrival of Marshall shows that McLaren is ambitious. When asked during the press conference on Thursday what the 55-year-old Briton will bring to McLaren, Norris replies: ‘Knowledge and expertise. He has worked for Red Bull for many years and he has had many successes with that team. He has worked with some of the best people in Formula 1 and he has been an important part of that. I would say brainpower and lap time are the two most important things,” said Norris.

The new signing could be a huge boost for the McLaren team, according to Norris. “He’s a great asset to our team, so I think a lot of people at McLaren look up to him and have a lot of respect for him. It is a good step for the team by adding more performance and expertise to the team in the search for improvement.’

Norris believes in McLaren’s approach

Despite a difficult start to the season, Norris is still confident in McLaren’s approach. Maybe even more than before. “I have a lot of faith, now even more than in the past, and I think I would never say I don’t believe in it. I never said that and probably never will. But the latest changes have certainly brought a lot of good things, both in terms of mood, atmosphere, but at the same time also in terms of performance and things to look forward to in the future.’
