Norris ‘determined’ to continue São Paulo’s strong weekend in Las Vegas

Lando Norris would like to continue his good result during the Grand Prix of São Paulo next weekend in Las Vegas. Two weeks ago in Brazil, the McLaren driver was the only driver who could make things difficult for Max Verstappen. The 24-year-old Briton came second for the sixth time in 2023 and that leaves him wanting more.

In recent race weekends, Norris has become Verstappen’s biggest challenger. He has not yet managed to beat the Red Bull Racing driver, but he seems to be getting closer to his very first victory in the premier class of motor racing. The McLaren driver himself does not seem to be directly concerned with this and he hopes to continue the trend of the past GPs this weekend.

However, it will not be easy, because F1 will visit the Las Vegas street circuit for the first time this year. “I have been preparing in the simulator, but it will be interesting to see how it goes in practice,” the Briton, who is in excellent form, said in a McLaren press release. ‘We’ve had some good races, with four podium finishes in five races. I am determined to continue this in the final races and end the season on a high.”

Piastri hopes to return to the points

Teammate Oscar Piastri is also looking forward to his first GP in Las Vegas. “I can’t wait to see what it looks like,” says the Australian, who mainly hopes to end his bad run in the gambling city. The debutant has only managed to score four points in the past three games in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

In Brazil, Piastri was behind the times from the restart, because he and Daniel Ricciardo had to start the race one lap behind. In Las Vegas, however, the Australian hopes to be able to score some valuable points for McLaren. ‘The team has developed the car wonderfully this year. I hope to be able to get back into the points this weekend,” concludes Piastri.
