Nijmegen kidnapping victim freed by police, three arrested



The police arrested three suspects on Saturday morning around 08.45 at a gas station along the A12 in Renswoude, near Utrecht. The three had kidnapped a 22-year-old man at Keizer Karelplein in Nijmegen. According to De Gelderlander, the victim was taken to Boxmeer where he managed to raise the alarm.

No robbery

The kidnapping started in Nijmegen, after which the victim apparently managed to raise the alarm in Boxmeer along the way. The police initially thought of a robbery of supermarket Jan Linders in the Brabant village, but that turned out not to be the case.

Recognition cameras

Using license plate recognition cameras, the police quickly tracked down the three suspects with the kidnapped man, after which they were trapped at a gas station along the A12 in Renswoude. The trio has been arrested and is in custody for questioning. The vehicle they were driving has been examined by the police. The kidnapped man is a 22-year-old man from Nijmegen.

The police are talking to the victim about what exactly happened and what the reason for the kidnapping is.
