Nice date idea: dining on the edge of space

Already done eating in the dark? Have you tried a three-star restaurant? If you’re looking for a new, groundbreaking way to dine, look no further. You will soon be able to eat at great heights: in space. Or well, on the edge of it.

Space Perspective

It’s called Space Perspective and an evening of fine dining will cost you $500,000, but it will allow you to watch the sun rise in a way that few people have been able to directly observe. From 2025, in his Neptune spacecraft, you can travel to the edge of space and enjoy the amazing view in two hours, as well as a menu created by the acclaimed Danish chef Rasmus Munk, known for Alchemist (two Michelin stars). .

In this type of capsule you can see how the sun rises over the curve of the earth, after you have first flown to an altitude of 30 kilometers. Munk will travel with you, but otherwise it is a very exclusive, intimate event: only 6 guests in total can participate. However, they are fully equipped: there is even WiFi on board with which you can livestream your experience with this space balloon on social media.

OverviewEffect

Neptune still needs to be tested, which will take place next month. We are curious how salty Munk makes the food, because your taste is slightly different on an ordinary plane, let alone when you go that high. By the way, you don’t really go into space (and certainly not to Neptune): then you would have to fly about 60 to 70 kilometers higher. So you are not an astronaut if you have had this experience, but you will probably have gained an important insight. You undoubtedly feel very insignificant when you can admire the earth from that view. This is also called the Overview Effect, a kind of epiphany that you get when you have been able to admire this view.
