Patient association Crohn & Colitis NL has launched a new website, especially for young people with IBD up to the age of 18. On www.crohn-colitis-jong.nl they can find information about their illness, how peers deal with their illness and tips for dealing with emotions surrounding their illness.
From tube feeding to stoma
The information on the website is written in simple language, making it understandable for children and young people. For example, there is a clear explanation of what Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and IBD-U are, including animated videos aimed at children. The examinations in the hospital, the nutritional therapy for IBD and what tube feeding is are also explained at a child’s level, just like medication, a temporary or permanent stoma (with animation video) and a pouch.
Dietician
The dietician is also discussed on the website, not only in the description of all disciplines that a child or young person with IBD may encounter, but also in the explanation of what children and young people with IBD can eat.
Living with IBD
From fatigue to vacation and from sports to sex: a large part of the website is devoted to information and tips about living with IBD as a child or young person. Also included are 14 experience stories of children and young people with IBD.
