New master track Nutrition and Dietetics

Are you interested in becoming an academic dietitian, bringing practice and science together? From September 2023, Wageningen University & Research will offer a Master’s track in Nutrition and Dietetics. This 2-year full-time program is especially for dietitians. Entry requirements are a BSc Nutrition and Dietetics and a grade point average of at least 7.0.

Academic dietician

There is no master’s program in Nutrition and Dietetics in the Netherlands. The new Master’s track in Nutrition and Dietetics is part of the Biomedical Master’s in Nutrition and Health (specialization in Nutritional Physiology and Health Status). This master track increases the expertise of dietitians on an academic level. It provides in-depth knowledge of energy and nutrient metabolism, nutrition and disease throughout the life course, and of dietetics and nutrition research. It addresses the role of nutritional status, diet and lifestyle in the prevention and treatment of both common and complex disease states that require dietary interventions.

Evidence and practice based

Participants in the master track develop research skills at a high level to design, conduct, interpret and subsequently implement both evidence-based and practice-based dietetic and nutrition research. Dietetic skills, such as clinical reasoning and evidence-based dietetics, are taught at an advanced level and skills in Nutritional Assessment and Clinimetrics are further optimised. This master track offers a unique mix of academic dietetics and knowledge in other subjects within this specialization, including human physiology and intervention research.
