Also Jamai at Fred & Friends

Fred van Leer is proud to announce his latest ‘Friend’ for Fred & Friends in Rotterdam Ahoy on 22 & 23 September. It’s none other than Jamai!

Fred: “I am incredibly proud and very happy that Jamai is there. Not only is Jamai of course a fantastic vocalist, but also a very good friend for so long. We’re going to have a lot of fun on stage. Already looking forward to.”

Just like last edition, Fred & Friends will be a wonderful, hysterical evening full of crazy live performances, dance, spectacle, bells and whistles. It was previously announced that Diggy Dex, Nyassa Alberta, Jopie Parlevliet, Envy Peru and Mart Hoogkamer will also make an appearance. More artists will be announced in the near future.

Jamai was born on June 30, 1986 in Gouda and grew up in the town of Schoonhoven with his parents and 2 older sisters. In primary school he took part in a school musical for the first time. Jamai played the role of Harm, the main character in the musical Ja Zuster, Nee Zuster. He was also a keyboard player in a school band called 8CC. In 2002 his mother entered him for the biggest talent show in the Netherlands called Idols. He auditioned in Rotterdam with the song Have I told you lately and passed the audition rounds. He even got a spot in the live shows. Together with Jim Bakkum, Jamai stood on March 8, 2003 in the final, which he won with 75% of the votes. With his quadruple platinum debut single Step right up, Jamai was number 1 in the Dutch charts for weeks and played 4 times in a sold-out Ahoy with Idols in Concert. After Step right up, two more singles followed: a duet with fellow Idols candidate Dewi Walk in the room and Wango Tango. His album Jamai reached gold status even before its release. After many solo performances, interviews and TV appearances, Jamai decided to expand his musical career by also focusing on musicals and can be seen in various programs such as Dancing with the Stars and Ruben van der Meer’s Great Improvisation Show and Til Beckhand.
