Leeuwarden – The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating an incident in the area of ​​the Drachtsterweg in Leeuwarden, in which the police shot. This happened during the inspection of a possibly suspicious vehicle.

The police received a report of a burglary at Reintje Visser-Beardastrjitte in Hempens on Saturday, January 13 around 1:15 am. A victim was allegedly threatened with a weapon. No one was injured. The report showed that two suspects had run away and the police were on the lookout for them.

Officers found a possibly suspicious vehicle with two occupants in the area of ​​Drachtsterweg. They stopped the vehicle and wanted to check the occupants. At one point the car took off. Police shot.

The vehicle left the road a short time later near Drachtsterplein. Two occupants of the car were seriously injured. These are two men aged 34 and 33 from Leeuwarden, who have been taken to hospital. Both men have been arrested.

An investigation is underway into the report of the burglary in Hempens, the incident at Drachtsterweg and the circumstances surrounding the injuries to the two occupants of the vehicle. Because officers shot, the National Criminal Investigation Department was notified and they are investigating.
