Mislintat designates Ajax trio: 'Most attractive for international top clubs'

Sven Mislintat has given an insight into his transfer plans at Ajax. In any case, the German technical director wants to bring a central defender and striker to Amsterdam. He also talks about possible exits of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Álvarez and Jurriën Timber.

Mislintat admits that Branco van den Boomen will not remain Ajax’s only summer acquisition. “If you look at the current selection, for example, I think we need a right-footed central defender and striker,” he said. “If you look purely at the numbers, we don’t have them. Lorenzo Lucca is leaving, there is no alternative to Jurriën Timber. Every position must be filled twice, so we are short in numbers. And then it depends on the market who stay there.”

Mislintat then focuses on outgoing transfers. “It is clear which players are the most attractive for international top clubs. I am thinking of a trio: Mohammed Kudus, Edson Álvarez and Timber. Only it depends on the market what will happen. I know of interest from clubs, but offers are not there yet. So there is nothing concrete. There are talks, but we have to wait and see what will happen. I can tell you that the budget that we have to spend is excellent. I am very happy with that.”

“If we buy players, they have to fit the philosophy of the club,” Mislintat continued. “They must be able to master our style of play. That also applies to the trainer. For a club like Ajax, given the way we think, it is clear that technical and stylish players are the most interesting. Only I also think in the “The ball must be back in the team quickly when the ball is lost. Players must be ultra-fit. I look for those characteristics in players. It is my responsibility to monitor that process.”
