Rob B. was acquitted by the court in Arnhem on Monday for the murder of his partner in the year 2000. Rob B. was previously convicted and received a tbs with compulsory treatment.

The Rosmalense flat murder, as the case was called, was under review after new investigations undercut previous conclusions by forensic experts. They said at the time that the victim could not have committed suicide.

With this, the conviction of B. can join a row of notorious miscarriages of justice, including the Schiedammer park murder, the Putten murder case and the Lucia de B case.

The Supreme Court ruled in 2020 that the case had to be dismissed. New research from the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) found that suicide was a more likely scenario than murder or manslaughter.
