An underage boy from Appingedam (province of Groningen) was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of involvement in a shooting in front of a supermarket on Harddraversplein. The boy probably shot into the air. No one was injured.
On Tuesday around 2.20 pm, the police received a report of a shooting incident on Harddraversplein in Appingedam. Officers soon determined that shots had probably been fired into the air. The crime scene has been cordoned off for (trace) investigation.
An underage boy from Appingedam was arrested in the area around 3 p.m. He is suspected of involvement in the shooting.
Further investigation into what exactly happened and the involvement of the arrested suspect is ongoing. More arrests cannot be ruled out, the police said in a press release. A motive for the shooting is not yet known.
