Justice Minister Dilan Yesilgöz is working on a plan to combat drug trafficking on chat app Telegram, she writes in response to questions from the House of Representatives. In public chat groups (sometimes) thousands of members can come into contact with traders who offer soft drugs, hard drugs and medicines.
Moderation
The minister says Telegram will have to do more to moderate such groups and exclude criminals.
But according to the minister, it is very ‘difficult’ to make agreements with Telegram. Moreover, Telegram has shown ‘little willingness’ to cooperate in ‘self-regulation and criminal investigations’.
Firearms and heavy fireworks are also regularly offered on Telegram.
