Sergio Pérez achieved his best qualifying result in twenty weekends in Japan on Saturday, but still had to overtake some colleagues on Sunday due to a difference in strategy. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were overtaken before 130R by the Mexican, who shared his overtaking actions on Instagram, with a not entirely corrected version of Ayrton Senna’s most famous quote: ‘If there’s a gap, you have to go for it!’
Verstappen exceeds track limits in the paddock
Max Verstappen arrived in Japan last weekend without a pass at the paddock of Circuit Suzuka. That was no problem for the Dutchman: out of sight of the race management, he exceeded the track limits in order to enter the circuit. On the circuit itself, the Limburger did not have to do such difficult overtaking actions.

Max Verstappen was accompanied in Japan by girlfriend Kelly Piquet and her daughter Penelope. During the podium ceremony, the daughter of Piquet and former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat proudly watched Verstappen stand on the top step of the podium and cheered on the Dutchman: ‘Max, yeah!’
