The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee arrested two men aged 19 and 20 from Rotterdam and Haarlem at Schiphol on Sunday after a firearm was found.
The two men were walking on Schiphol Plaza and their behavior attracted the attention of Marechaussees. A check showed that one of them was known to be a firearms hazard. The Marechaussees decided to search the men. One of the two indicated that he had a firearm in a bag with him. Both men were subsequently arrested.
The criminal investigation department of the Marechaussee is investigating. The 19-year-old man has since been released. The 20-year-old suspect from Haarlem is detained and will be brought before the examining magistrate on Tuesday.
