Thanks to his gigantic hit ‘Guardian Angel’, Marco Schuitmaker’s life has changed enormously in a short time. The hit has been awarded gold and platinum and has won two Buma NL Awards. The whole of the Netherlands is singing along to his stunner and he is praised everywhere. What does that do to Marco? The sympathetic hit singer tells Party: “My life has changed completely in a short time. I appear at all the major festivals, there is a lot of media attention, I am invited to television programs and I am suddenly recognized on the street. You get all that for free if you have made a popular song. I’m down to earth about it and hopefully it won’t change me. In interviews I tell my story about how I feel and how I think about things. Of course my life has been turned upside down compared to the period before ‘Guardian Angel’. But I just stay calm and try to put what’s happening to me into perspective. Every now and then I take a moment to reflect on the success I currently have. That works very well for me.
