Man is released with a fright after attempted street robbery Nieuwegein

Nieuwegein – On Sunday, February 12, an attempt was made to commit a street robbery by two men on the Tuinkerspad in Nieuwegein. The suspects may have wanted to steal the victim’s electric bicycle. The police are looking for witnesses.

Around 3:50 pm, when the victim was on his way home on his electric bicycle, a scooter with two men on it drove in the opposite direction. After driving for about 50 meters, the scooter turned around and drove close to the victim’s bicycle.

A little further on, the co-driver of the scooter was standing on the verge next to the bike path. When the cyclist came closer, the co-driver forced him to stop. Then he reached into his inside pocket for something that looked like a firearm. The cyclist then continued on. A little further on, near the Anijsgaarde, the same scooter with the driver stood still on the walkway, the victim also drove past here.
