Purmerend – A shooting incident took place at the Purmerend train station on Stationsweg on Monday, February 12 around 8:05 PM. A 19-year-old man from Purmerend died. Another man, a 19-year-old man from the municipality of Medemblik, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The police are investigating and looking for witnesses.
Several emergency services arrived on site immediately after the report to provide care to the victims. This did not work for one victim. He died of his injuries in hospital after being resuscitated at the scene. The other victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The police searched the area with specialized colleagues, service and sniffer dogs and the police helicopter for any suspect(s). No one was found. No clear description of the suspect(s) is known at this time.
The family of the deceased victim has now been notified and put in touch with a family liaison officer.
