Man (41) stabbed to death in Tivoli music venue, suspect arrested

A 41-year-old man from Utrecht died in a stabbing at the TivoliVredenburg music venue in Utrecht on Sunday morning around 7 a.m. It concerns a cleaner who was working at the music venue. The police arrested a suspect a few hours later.

Around 7 a.m., the police received a report of a stabbing in the TivoliVredenburg music venue. At that point there were no more events. Emergency services arrived en masse, including an air ambulance, but assistance was of no help to the man. The victim is a 41-year-old man from Utrecht. The man worked for the cleaning company that hires the music venue, the police reported.

Signaling

The suspect fled the building after the incident. The police issued a description of the suspect who was arrested after several hours. His involvement in the stabbing is under investigation. The police are conducting extensive investigations into the case.

Cancelled

The pop venue’s website states that all Sunday concerts have been cancelled. ‘Due to a fatal stabbing incident in which no audience or artists were involved, all concerts in TivoliVredenburg are canceled today. We are very affected by what happened and we sympathize with the relatives.’

Hardcore event

It is still unclear what exactly happened. In Tivoli on Saturday night there was a hardcore event (The Chemicals of Noxiouz) that stopped at 6am and a monthly LGBTQIA party that ended at 4am. It is unclear what the suspect was doing in the music venue at the time.
