Earnest Stewart has opened up about Hirving Lozano’s return to PSV. The Mexican wing attacker himself took the initiative for a transfer.
PSV announced the transfer of Lozano on Deadline Day. The attacker thus returned to the old nest in Eindhoven after four years. “That is a special story. We were able to make his arrival possible partly because we play in the Champions League and we see him as a real opportunity. At one point Hirving himself called Marcel Brands and indicated that he would very much like to return. wanted to come. You see that football is also often about relationships and networks. For him it is an intermediate step to eventually go back to where he comes from, but he indicated that he has always been able to manifest himself very well in Eindhoven between the supporters and players,” said Stewart, reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Someone who was also on PSV’s wish list was Aster Vranckx. Stewart indicates that the Belgian midfielder of VfL Wolfsburg was not allowed to leave. “We had a number of conversations about his situation and in the end his club did not want to lose him. At some point we made the decision to make a different assessment and to prioritize the defense. So this is at the end of the transfer period was also no longer an issue.”
Stewart eventually conjured Armell Bella-Kotchap out of the top hat. He is on loan from Southampton. With that, PSV brought in its desired defender at the last minute, although his arrival did not seem realistic at first. “Earlier this summer he was unfeasible. Completely unfeasible. I already had the idea that he wanted to come to us and that’s why we pushed through on the last transfer day, although I admit that we have been working on a lot of options before that.”
