Spanish police in a joint operation with Europol have arrested a fugitive man from Lithuania who is suspected of large-scale hash smuggling. The man is suspected of participating in a criminal organization and of possessing a large amount of hashish for distribution to Norway.
Arrest warrant
The Lithuanian was arrested at the request of the Lithuanian authorities in the town of Mijas in the province of Malaga. This happened after a European arrest and surrender warrant was issued for drug trafficking. According to the investigative services, the man belonged to a criminal organization that is involved in the distribution of a large amount of hashish in Norway.
Raid
After the Lithuanian Attorney General issued a European Investigation Order, the Spanish police raided his home in Mijas at night. During the search, two high-end vehicles, three luxury watches, several mobile devices and computer equipment were seized. His single-family home worth 1 million euros and nine bank accounts have also been seized.
The Lithuanian will soon be handed over to his country of origin.
