Light and spacious: enlarge your home with a glass sliding wall

It’s great, a veranda, but if the winter continues as it is now, then you are better off with a sliding glass wall. With this you can ensure that you can sit on the veranda without feeling cold. And you can still see your entire yard.

Sliding glass walls

Sliding glass walls are meant to be a kind of extension of you house. Not only does this make your veranda more part of your home as a separate space: a lot of light enters through the glass wall, which gives a very spacious feeling. Even more than if you opt for doors, for example, because you have to deal with more frame work there. You can enjoy watching everything that happens in your garden, while you are nice and warm behind the glass sliding wall.

This wall not only ensures that the cold does not go outside: it also provides an extra layer of insulation for your home: it is an extra way to ensure that the cold is less able to get inside. Something that is certainly not an unnecessary luxury in the current time of high energy and gas bills. These are only small amounts, because glass lets a lot of cold through, but it is certainly more than if there were no wall.

Glass and aluminum

You may be wondering what about those glass sliding walls: after all, they have to be attached in a certain way. That is with aluminum parts. The glass plates are placed in it and the aluminum provides a kind of frame. The advantage is that you can attach it to wood, but also to a wall or aluminum. Wheels are attached to it again, because it must be able to slide open and closed. They are often made of nylon, because it is very strong.

There are of course also disadvantages to a glass sliding wall: for example, birds may keep flying into it because they cannot see that there is a window. In addition, you have to clean the windows (or have them cleaned): you will get a lot more glassware in one go. But the advantage is that you can kind of sit in your garden, even when it’s raining cats and dogs. One of the biggest advantages, however, is that such a sliding wall creates an extra room, as it were. An ideal place to make a kind of herb greenhouse, or to create a nice light garden room with lots of greenery, a nice white lounge sofa and atmospheric lighting.

In addition, it is also nice not to be in the summer barbecue air having to sit. After all, you can eat ‘inside’ and keep the doors reasonably closed to avoid being completely surrounded by smoke from the barbecue. And precisely because you’re indoors, the chance of wasps and other insects on your food is also less. Not such a crazy idea at all, such a wall to look through, or just slide it completely open if the Dutch weather allows it.
