In March it was announced that the investigation into the allegations about Marco Borsato’s time with The Voice of Holland has been dropped due to a lack of evidence. However, a sex investigation is still ongoing following a report from December 2021.

Leontine Ruiters and the rest of her family support Marco Borsato, who is accused of sexually transgressive behaviour, she says in an interview with Nouveau. The presenter has spoken publicly about her ex for the first time since the allegations.

“We are all behind Marco,” says Ruiters. “I just find it difficult to talk about Marco, because he doesn’t do that at all. However, there will come a time when he will. And then it’s up to him to tell about it.”

Ruiters divorced the singer in 2020 after almost 22 years of marriage. After that, their relationship blossomed again, but it did not come to a reunion. Together they have three children: Luca, Senna and Jada. The presenter is still having a hard time with the break.

“When you have been together for so long and both have your own role and place in that marriage, it is very difficult to rediscover yourself afterwards. I’m still in the middle of that journey. It goes with ups and downs.”

“I found it difficult to suddenly have to do life alone and I had fears about the future,” Ruiters continues. “Of course there is a lot going on around Marco. We support him very much as a family, but it still plays a major role in our family.”

Ruiters says he hopes that peace will return to their family. “I hope that Marco and I can become grandparents to our grandchildren in the future and that my children can develop despite the situation surrounding their father.”
