April Darby (32) and Sanne Wallis de Vries (53) will play the leading roles in the new Dutch version of the musical Sister Act next season. April will be seen as nightclub singer Deloris, Sanne plays the role of Mother Superior.
Producer MediaLane announced this on Tuesday in the talk show Humberto. The performance was shown ten years ago in the Circustheater in Scheveningen. The production house previously announced that it will be a traveling show. The premiere is planned for the winter of 2024-2025.
The musical was previously a success in London, New York and Paris. The performance is based on the film of the same name about a nightclub singer who has to go into hiding in a monastery as a key witness in a murder case. The leading role in the film was played by Whoopi Goldberg, Mother Superior was actress Maggie Smith in the film version.
In the previous Dutch version, the leading roles were played by Carolina Dijkhuizen and Simone Kleinsma.
